U.S. Tour August 2019
To paraphrase Chuck Berry, “The Cynics are here to stay!” Pausing only to work on new tunes and catch their breath, the never-ending garage monster that is The Cynics are back out on tour again. This time the legendary Pittsburgh band hits the road to celebrate with fans the 30th anniversary of their 1989 classic album Rock’n’Roll!
For this special and not-to-be-missed occasion, Get Hip is preparing a deluxe, expanded reissue on Double LP with Gatefold jacket that will include a live radio broadcast from The Cynics 1990 tour. This album will be on sale exclusively at all upcoming shows before its official release date.
Their third album, Rock’n’Roll, established The Cynics as the best of the late-80s neo-garage revival scene, rising up and rushing them into a new decade. The band locked into an unfettered and LOUD groove, shaking that neo-scene out of their paisley pants, and raising the eyebrows of burgeoning grunge rockers, impressed with what guitarist Gregg Kostelich’s one fuzz pedal and singer Michael Kastelic’s bottomless scream could do to those beloved three or four chords. And proof of its power is the devotion that fans around the world still have for this timeless and brilliant album.
Since the 2007 recording in Spain of the band’s 7th full-length album, Here We Are, The Cynics have been graced with a fantastic and powerful rhythm section of two talented musicians from Asturias (Spain): Pibli Gonzalez (drums) and Angel Kaplan (bass). They have been touring relentlessly with the band since and also joined Gregg and Michael in Detroit for the recording of their latest album, Spinning Wheel Motel (2012) under the masterful direction of Jim Diamond.
For this anniversary tour, The Cynics will play the entire Rock’n’Roll album beginning to end plus plenty of other hits from the rest of their amazing catalog! So you can leave the
“Is rock and roll dying” debates at home, and go see The Cynics, alive and screaming!
